There is a purpose in this season. And sometimes, rejection is God’s protection.

We ended a series last Sunday, so we started a new one today. Change for Change. Dr. Linda started the series as a guest speaker.

Her sermon spoke to me. Her sermon was needed. Her sermon made sense in my life.

We are all going through something and there is a purpose in this season. Even if it is the hardest season you have been through. Even when you feel like you are drowning and being knocked down by every wave. There is a purpose. But how will you let it shape you?

Are you going to be okay? The simple answer? Yes.

But that question requires a follow-up. Are you going to get through it with God’s help or you are going to try and fight through it alone? Spoiler alert — asking God for help is not only the better way, but the only way.

The first exercise: say it with me — It’s all good.

She stated how she and her husband adopted this saying for when things feel heavy, they look at each other and just say, “it’s all good”, and shrug it off. And I think that is so important.

When things hit the fan, take a deep breath, smile, and say, it’s all good.

Here is the second spoiler alert, you are not in charge of your life. You do not dictate what happens to you, even though sometimes that is easy to forget. Our lives are already mapped out. Your destiny has already been spoken into existence. And no matter how hard to try to control the narrative, whatever is meant to happen, will happen.

It’s all good.

Tattoo it to the anterior of your heart, so when you face something difficult again in your life, you will remember how you got through it before.

But how can you believe it’s all good when it’s not. How can you say it’s all good when it’s not. What a dilemma.

  1. Choose how you will explain your problems to yourself.
  2. You will not see it until you are out of it.
  3. Zoom out and focus our attention on worshipping God.

Dr. Linda said you have to take a step back. And look at the entire picture. You will see some good. And then all of a sudden, you will see why it had to happen. Even though it hurt, even though it was painful. It had to happen.

Things happen for you, not TO you. You have to create an aroma that is stronger smelling than the stench of your pain. You then have to choose to smell the aroma of worship even though you want to sit and smell the pain.

So, forget what’s wrong with your life, and remember what’s right with God.

Romans 8:28: All things work together for the good of those who love God.
