What We Do
Our goal is to promote Armenia as a premier hiking destination with world class trails, unique homestay options, various cultural and historical sites, and knowledgable, trained guides.
HIKEArmenia is committed to the general promotion of Armenia as a hiking and ecotourism destination for international visitors and locals alike, to allow them to discover the undiscovered nature and treasures which remain still unknown to most. Starting with our interactive website, housed in a modern resource center in the heart of downtown Yerevan, and an expanded mobile application, we are creating physical and digital resources that connect users to people and organizations in the regions of Armenia they hope to visit.
How We Started
In 2016, the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation approached ONEArmenia, who had successfully created the HIKEArmenia application through a crowdfunding campaign in 2015, about accelerating investment into HIKEArmenia further develop it and enhance its impact. In February 2017, the two organizations signed an agreement which ultimately established full support of the Hovnanian Foundation for the creation of HIKEArmenia as a separate operating foundation in Armenia with the goal of developing world-class hiking infrastructure and resources throughout Armenia.
Who We Are
Together, the Hovnanian Foundation, ONEArmenia, as well as many other local stakeholders on the ground already involved in hiking, adventure travel, and ecotourism in Armenia, promote sustainable ecotourism and the development of Armenia’s rural economy.
We work closely with Patrick Sarkissian and his ONEArmenia staff who incubated HIKEArmenia through its global platform of change-makers. Upon partnering with the Hovnanian Foundation, 1A spearheaded the creative direction and execution of the project. Together we are building trails, partnering with and training local entities, investing in rural communities, installing infrastructure, and promoting Armenia’s hiking, ecotourism, people, history and culture to the world.

Here you can pick up maps, rent equipment, or stop in and get the inside scoop on how to make your hiking adventure even more enjoyable.
