3 misconceptions of working in a liquor delivery company

We’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic talent over the last 5 years. We’ve also managed to (unknowingly) scare away some prospective employees because we are perceived as, well, (complete with the most cliched stereotype of a liquor startup)

Here are a few common misconceptions that you should stay away from, if you’re interested in working with us.

Myth #1 — We are a ‘liquor’ company

We do not manufacture alcoholic beverages. We are a tech company that deals with last-mile delivery of alcoholic beverages from licensed retailers. Our focus is on smart innovation through technology and great customer experiences. Many people assume we have a distillery in the basement and bottles rolling around the floor. Not true!

Myth #2 — We have a bar at office

The “bar” exists only in our brand name. This myth has sadly (and surprisingly) stopped many young freshers from joining our ranks. While many of us do enjoy a drink now and then at parties, our office does not have a bar (nothing against those who do) You’re more likely to see teams scramble for reports, excel sheets and deal with bug fixes, than day drinking. However, we do have an awesome pool table, foosball table, some video games, and a few well used bean bags.

Myth #3 — Everyone drinks

We deal with alcohol companies and retailers on a daily basis. Most of us can recite the names and MRP of brands with the same ease as multiplication tables. However, not all of us drink. HipBar is proud of its resolute teetotalers (of which there are many!) The fear that joining HipBar will turn one into a raging alcoholic is completely unfounded. We respect individual choice and identity.

If you think you’re a good fit but are currently debating joining HipBar for the above reasons, come over, join us for a coffee and see for yourself.

Cheers,

HipBar
