Treasure fleets, silver, riches….and revival

The Mongols were a game changing force in every region they touched, and Dynastic China, the bedrock of stability and pride in native rulers for a millennium, was no exception. Under the Mongolic, Yuan Dynasty, the society, and essence of China were thrown into question as a new social hierarchy was imposed. With the Mongol elite at the top, and the bickering Northern and Southern Chinese populaces at the bottom, China could not last under foreign domination. Despite the adoption of Chinese culture into the Yuan administration, and the opening of the country’s economy to the rest of the world through forceful population exchanges on the Silk Road, the dynasty was too fragile to maintain. In the end, the Yuan State was rotten with famines and internal stagnation. In the chaotic scene erupted the Ming Dynasty. After a short conquest under the Casus Belli of returning China to domestic rule, the new dynasty focused on the revival of Chinese traditions and the fluorescence of Confucianism. Nevertheless, the Ming fused many practices from the previous Mongol-dominated century, which enabled China to reach its naval and geopolitical peak.
