Hurricane Awareness

The Bahamas has been hit year after year by devastating. In the past 10 most devastating hurricanes to hit the United States, the Bahamas has taken the brute of 7/10 of them. With a population of around 400,000, countries like this cannot afford to deal with the consequences of more natural disasters. Even though it is impossible to be able eliminate the possibility of one hitting, all one can do it prepare its people.

The Bahamian people are a group of patriotic citizens. Not only to Bahamians have a strong emotional connection with their land but they also have the underlying feeling of abandonment during evacuations. For my senior capstone project, I have began working with the Bahamian government to build a software that can help in providing dynamic forecasting data to help citizens evacuate. This poster is to help push the idea that people must take their safety into account. I picked to use the background of the island Abaco as it was one of the two islands that were completely devastated by recent hurricane Dorian. By using the background hurricane icon centered around the word “Can,” I tried to show the importance of making the right decision. Finally, I used many of the Bahamian colors in hopes of drawing on the idea of patriotism and how evacuation should not make one less prideful.
