Welcome to Industrial Design

In A Brief History of Industrial and Interaction Design, the target audience appears to be anyone who is interested in learning more and studying about how designers improve upon certain items we use in daily life. The text reveals that they assume that the audience is familiar with the world of tech as whole, as well as the development of items such as chairs and phones as they have grown and changed in many ways through the years. The main value which I came across in this piece is revealed when the writers is speaking of the function of chairs, mentioning how “a bad chair is one that performs all of the requirements, but remains just a chair.” From this, I feel that important message that we can all learn is that functionality is not the be all end all. It is also crucial to consider the aesthetics of the item, as this aspect can add huge potential to the product which is being designed. Another value that is particularly useful is the importance of simplicity especially when it comes to technology.

In BLACK PEOPLE MADE AMERICA, the target audience seems to be anyone who is a creator, that might be unaware of all that black people have created and invented that are extremely prevalent in today’s world despite not being recognized in history. The text reveals that the audience knows little to none about the inventions and contributions that black inventors have made as well as the great lengths that they have made in order to get their product out in the world to help others. A value which is apparent in the writing is innovation. Anyone can build something to help the world, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be new, only an innovation
