Poster — MOAB Bonnets

My name is Alessia and I am a sophomore studying Symbolic Systems with a Product Design concentration.

In 2015, I founded an e-commerce business, MOAB Bonnets, selling customisable equine equipment that I design. This not only enables me to express my creativity but also combines my passion for equestrian showjumping to my entrepreneurial drive and social responsibility.

Indeed, MOAB Bonnets are hand knitted by previously unemployed Turkish women, providing them with a stable monthly income. Part of the profits are also donated to Just World International, an American NGO, for the education of children in Cambodia. Through this poster, I aim to express MOAB’s values: promoting the empowerment of women and the education of children, which could broadly be defined as the value of “universalism”.

I chose to use a black background to make the poster’s colours stand out and attract the audience’s attention. I chose two pictures of bonnets as well as two of MOAB’s values; the poster is balanced between the company’s products and values. This reveals the importance of MOAB is supporting women’s employment and children’s education. The orange colour and the font chosen match MOAB’s logo. I only used one other font (main font) in order to keep the poster coherent and simple. I laid out the text and the images following a grid which ensured that the poster looked organised.
