Sketchnoting “How Buildings Learn: Flow”

Stewart Brand has a bone to pick with modernist architecture.

The American writer examines in the first episode of his BBC special, How Buildings Learn, why some buildings seem to “flow” with time while others age poorly.

My sketchnote of the pilot episode.

The key distinction: growth. Brand argues that buildings must adapt to the needs of their users, and architects must revisit their buildings to assess those needs. Only buildings that grow through time get better with time.
