Welcome to Industrial Design

In “Black People Invented Everything” the target audience seems to be anyone that is an “inventor” or in a broader sense desires to make a difference in a creative field. There’s a huge emphasis on uncovering the truth of just how much black/ indigenous people have made a difference in creating. There is so much that black people made that white people took credit for. Even the system that allocates ownership (patents) was a system created by whites. This paper really highlights how skewed the perception is of creation/ inventions in America.

On the other hand, “A Brief History of Industrial and Interation Design” is more about the ways in which inventors got their ideas for design weather from people, business, context, etc. It talked about a technological timeline from the 1900s all the way to present time. In contrast with the other paper, it only mentions white males (or from what I could tell from quick Google searches). There is no mention of people who helped them get there. The people who finally come up with the ideas are the geniuses and take all the credit. One of these guy was even knighted by the Queen of England. That’s not to say that their work isn’t important. However, reading the first article and then this one it seems a bit ironic how undiverse the inventors mentioned were.
