How you can tell when Trump is lying
Not only when his lips are moving
Hamlet: Madam, how like you this play?
Queen: The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
— Hamlet Act 3, scene 2
The Twitter series
Is Donald Trump protesting loudly on Twitter? Bigly? Are his 280-character tweets just too short to hold his, let’s call them, “thoughts”?
Here’s where the shit really comes out of the hole:
Obviously, the proven pathological liar is lying about this. The stream of Twitter invective is proof enough. So much so, we don’t really even need the corroboration from Senator Dick Durbin, who was in the room with Trump when he made his remarks.

“It is not true,” Durbin said of Trump’s denial. “He said these hate-filled things, and he said them repeatedly.”
In the pivot
Did you catch the lame pivot attempt above? Did he try to change the subject to a topic that criticizes his perceived enemies? Of course he did. Who does that as a non sequitur? Desperate liars do.
Was it an unprompted protest? We didn’t ask, Don. Why so preemptively defensive?
Sure, Don. It has nothing to do with you making yourself out to be the blatantly racist, nation-bashing shithole of the United States of America. Your reasoning is super believable. Hard to believe you wouldn’t want to face a foreign press delegation right after your latest gaffe.
Or was it a gaffe?
The art of invention, part I
When is a toxic utterance that reveals one’s true nature not a gaffe? When it plays to the base, that’s when. The White House is only too eager to help explain the statements Trump didn’t make are actually brilliant political strategy … because they play to his base.

White House aides appear unfazed, with some there arguing the remark could actually help the president despite drawing bipartisan condemnation.
A very stable genius!
The art of invention, part II
Is Trump inventing crimes against the United States by the Democrats? Why, yes. He’s lying again:
MAGA me one more time, baby
Is Trump hitting the Make America Great Again slogan hot and heavy? The limited one’s vastly limited vocabulary screeches to a halt when that’s all he’s got left in the quiver.
Is he revving up the base with #MAGA? Chanting, “USA”! He’s lying again. But he might be done … for now.
Oh, if we only had a higher caliber television star in the White House.
