From this weekend in Brown County State Park. Seemed symbolic. I’m probably just corny.

No reflections or insights this time. Just good news.

This morning I got my post-chemotherapy PET scan. Despite my chemo regimen having overwhelming odds of success, I was still nervous. The 40 minutes of waiting for the PET radiopharmaceutical to equilibrate felt like a lifetime.

But an hour later I was staring at the visual evidence of effective treatment. The affected nodes had shrunk. The increased metabolic activity signaling cancerous proliferation was gone. Chemo worked.

I’ll have more thoughts on both being done with chemotherapy and the long term meaning of today’s results soon. For now it’s on to a couple weeks of low dose radiation (which should have minimal if any side effects) starting next week.

For the moment though I just wanted to update everyone with the good news.

Good riddance chemotherapy. May we never meet again.
