The thirty-second Star Atlas townhall shed some light on upcoming SCREAM crafting mechanics. At the end of the town hall, lead SCREAM game designer Chip revealed that crafting would be tied to, and depend upon, the available crew members docked at any given space station where crafting is occurring. While the exact specifics were not discussed, any gamer experienced with crafting systems knows that having more available crafting capacity means more throughput. In this case, more production means more potential for earned ATLAS. Thus, the beginnings of the very first Star Atlas meta was established.

Ideally, players will want to target the ships with the most crew members per ship. Looking across all of the available ship options on the Star Atlas Market, it’s clear that a few ships jump out ahead of the pack to form the Star Atlas Crafting Meta.

Commander Ships

It’s no surprise the current ship with the most crew members is the Pearce C11. This behemoth packs a total of 67 crew members per ship. Transportation of goods and crew are all self contained within one ship. That is not without a significant price tag however, more on that later.

Not far behind the C11 is the newly released Fimbul BYOS Tankship with 65 crew members. The ship itself looks like a manufacturing powerhouse.

Unfortunately, the Fimbul ECOS Treearrow only has 46 crew members and is not a recommended crafting ship.

Capital Ships

Within the Capital Ship division, the advantages are noticeably smaller. Still, the Pearce C9 comes out ahead with 24 crew members in its manifest tying with the VZUS ballad

Large Ships

There are no distinct advantages in this category as all large ships have 6 crew members. However, the Opal Bitboat only has 5 crew members compared to the rest of the large category.

Medium Ships

Surprisingly, the Calico Evac has a robust crew of 6, matching the category above it on crew members. Lacking in this department is the Calico ATS Enforcer with only 2 crew members.

Small Ships

Pearce R-6 and Calico Medtech each have 3 crews members compared to the category average of 2. Despite its shiny exterior, the Rainbow Chi has only 1 crew position.

X-Small Ships

There were no distinct advantages or disadvantages in this category. Each ship contains two crew.

XX-Small Ships

Again, each ship is equal in that it has only one crew member.

However, the XX-Small ship category may in fact, be the sleeper Star Atlas crafting meta. Let’s compare the Fimbul Airbike to the Pearce C11. A new C11 would cost tens of thousands of dollars, if not more. At full retail value, 67 Fimbul Airbikes (to match the crew size of the C11), would cost a little of one thousand dollars. That’s nearly one-one hundredth of the price for the same effect. Now the drawback to having that many small ships is that it would require a significant LP investment to achieve the hangar capacity required for all of the Airbikes. However, for many players, LP farming may be much more achievable than a six-figure commander ship.

Full details about SCREAM crafting may change the future of the Star Atlas crafting meta, but for now, all eyes are upon the Fimbul Airbike.
