Whether the ideas have slowed to a trickle or you’re just feeling curious and in the mood for a little reflection. Our weekly prompt is an invitation to ruminate on an idea and see what arises.

Be it poetry or prose you’d like to submit to us, or a journal entry for your eyes only, take a moment to pause at some point during your week and set your pen free.

Sometimes I wonder if the things we don’t all fear the most is being mundane, being totally ordinary or worse still average. At times we definitely want to blend into the background, to disappear and not be noticed, but to forever be just one of the masses, that somehow feels very different.

We talk often about wanting and needing to be truly seen and heard. We want to be seen as special and someone to be loved and treasured. We want to have our unique selves acknowledged and the stories we seem to identify with the most, both as adults and children, are the ones in which the seemingly ‘normal’ person is revealed to be extraordinary. The heroes and myths of old, Harry Potter, romance fiction, and everything in between. We celebrate uniqueness and diversity but we also want to fit in.
