I’ve been thinking about the quiet. More than that, I’ve been thinking about silence. When we seek it out or avoid it, it’s qualities and how we cultivate it.
I’ve been wondering if silence changes as we age or go through different life phases. Children are SO loud. Heavy footfalls, shouting voices, screaming with joy, anger and just for the fun of it (apparentely).
Teenagers listening to music with a volume that permeates their skulls and fills their entire worlds. I suppose I should be grateful that mine wear headphones and treat their music choices as deeply private and personal.
As we get older, does our relationship to sound change?
