I’m not a fan of new year’s resolutions, far too many of them revolve around body image in a negative way and demand a start to the year that focuses on restriction and self beratement.

Instead, this last couple of weeks as we start over, yet again, I starting thinking about nourishment. The ways in which we do that for our bodies, and minds, and questioning whether if that isn’t the only real problem that we have.

Our relationship to food is often a complex one, created from our family dynamics, our financial situation and our knowledge. We often put the nourishment of ourselves, mentally and spiritually, to the bottom of the priority list, even though we know the impact that it will have on every other area of our lives.

What do you think of first when I say ‘nourishment’?

For most of us, we think in terms of food but nourishment extends far beyond the plate.
