Let’s face that blank page together
In a post-Covid, post-isolation culture a lot of people are finding it harder and harder to break out of their comfort zones to make genuine connections and find friends.
The demands of work, romantic relationships and families leave us little time for ourselves and for simply just being with other people.
And it leaves me wondering: is this why the echo chambers of social media are solidifying so quickly? Because we’re not having enough in-person, real world, conversations? Ones in which we feel safe enough to talk through delicate and difficult topics.
We’re told by the longevity experts — that seem to be everywhere at the moment — that one of the indicators of a long and happy life is our connections to others. That the health of our relationships rather than our bodies. So what will be the repercussions in the future for generations who are experiencing isolation on a whole new level today?
Friendships have always been important, no matter our age or circumstance, both for positive and negative reasons.
Our friendships, when we are lucky, become our chosen families. They are the safe spaces for us to share our stories, learn from the experiences of others…
