The Smallest Of Things

a poem

It’s the little things that break you

the feather on top of the weight

that becomes too much to bear

The wind that beats against you

that becomes too strong to lean into.

It’s the little things that save you

the smile from a stranger in passing

that moment of connection that surpasses the mundane

the hand that squeezes yours

a pulse of love, when no words will do.
