PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE NOW: How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix

Happy Thursday, Horror Fans!

I am already in full blown spooky season mode (even though I celebrate yearlong) but it is still close to one hundred degrees where I live. I am dying for some crisp fall weather, but I suppose I’ll have to be satisfied with air conditioning for a little while longer.

With that being said, bookstores are beginning to feature their horror collections more openly, which has me fangirling. I have already picked up more books to add to my collection than I probably should have, but I am so excited to share them with you. However, that will have to wait until another post.

This post is dedicated to one of my favorite horror authors, Grady Hendrix. Some of his more well-known works include My Best Friend’s Exorcism, Horrorstor, and The Final Girl Support Group. His work tends to feature horror elements with a sarcastic tone that may bring on feelings of dread but with an underlying tinge of humor. I haven’t found any other horror authors who resemble Hendrix’s unique style, which makes him one of a kind in my book. This is why I was so excited to find out that he has a new novel coming out in January 2023 called How to Sell a Haunted House. I pre-ordered the book on Amazon a few weeks ago, until I found out today that Barnes and Noble is offering a special edition version of the novel that is signed. I immediately canceled my pre-order on Amazon and pre-ordered my own signed copy of the book on Barnes and Noble instead. This special edition version includes bonus content from Hendrix that is unavailable anywhere else.

I have to note that I am not getting paid for this post, I just happen to be a huge fan of Grady Hendrix and I highly suggest you try out his work if you haven’t yet! You will be pleasantly surprised by how unique his imagination is. His books are also good for those who want to explore the horror genre but don’t want to experience extreme horror. I would call his version of horror light, and appropriate for beginner horror fans.

Read on to learn more about How to Sell a Haunted House.

New York Times bestselling author Grady Hendrix takes on the haunted house in a thrilling new novel that explores the way your past-and your family-can haunt you like nothing else.

When Louise finds out her parents have died, she dreads going home. She doesn’t want to leave her daughter with her ex and fly to Charleston. She doesn’t want to deal with her family home, stuffed to the rafters with the remnants of her father’s academic career and her mother’s lifelong obsession with puppets and dolls. She doesn’t want to learn how to live without the two people who knew and loved her best in the world.

Mostly, she doesn’t want to deal with her brother, Mark, who never left their hometown, gets fired from one job after another, and resents her success. But she’ll need his help to get the house ready for sale because it’ll take more than some new paint on the walls and clearing out a lifetime of memories to get this place on the market.

Some houses don’t want to be sold, and their home has other plans for both of them…

Like his novels
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires and The Final Girl Support Group, How to Sell a Haunted House is classic Hendrix: equal parts heartfelt and terrifying-a gripping new read from “the horror master”
