I Hope You Come Undone
Rupturing upon daylight
If you’ve never been shattered,
you have my pity;
to never discover your elements
after being broken
is a tragic silence.
To hear yourself breaking
in twilight’s stillness
is to listen, hoping
it’s the sound of her return.
To feel yourself breaking
is to surrender to rupture,
knowing that she never will,
and still, someday,
after picking up the pieces,
it’ll be okay
that things sometimes fall apart.
I pity most of all those
who have only been shattered once,
for to face a single obliteration
and never again risk
is to dawdle, dodging raindrops
while missing the point entirely.
It is singular bliss,
each countless repetition,
