I See You in the Moon

Love and Heartbreak

The moon rises above
ancient oak trees and I wonder
if you are watching, too.
Are you waiting for me? Or
am I another unlabelled mistake
in the long list of your accomplishments?
Do you see me in the shape
of your breath on a winter’s night?
Is the ghost of us still lingering
on your sheets?
Yesterday I walked past someone
who wears your cologne, and fell
into memories of us alone in the dark
with only moonlight covering our skin.
I think the moon will always remind me of you.
I wonder if anything reminds you
of me.
