MICROPOETRY
Life-Objects
A poem
I hold fast to life-objects
my camera, my guitar, my books, my mother’s chain
mean more than the materials that make them up
I make them up
give meaning to things
those things become talismans
they give me hope
But
can’t we give ourselves hope
become amulets, jewels of our
own encrusted bodies
Not idols or artefacts
Just
moving beings glowing golden light
the motion, the unity of parts
wholeness
I hold fast to myself
