A Haibun

one miss thunbergia twines her bines in existential happiness
gifting joy with all her flower filled worth. such child-like
blossoms doused with sunshine. as though those summer days
would ramble on and on and on. and then when autumn dawns
pour storms upon the hearts of those who drown too readily in
self-absorbed confusion. black-eyed susan cheers with selfless
unrestraint. a tumble of the innocent on desperation’s sinful
streets. where ignorance denies compassion. and all empathy
appears to be in never-ending sleep. the me not thee the most
important. but —

this dark-eyed lady
gives freely. flowers mindful
of our heathen hearts
