a pungent weep of leaf distills the air. astringent
to the eyes. which stream in mired rivers.
drowning nations. indigenous peoples. bereft.
left. unwashed. under breathless dust. their thirsty
tongues tied by these eucalyptus giants. lives
infiltrated. adulterated. abused by corporations. fat
financiers who chew on their chains of livelihood.

withered acres lie land-grabbed. hand-bagged.
rivers dragged for profit. jaws champing at the bit.
the potent images of commerce. greenwashed.
brush scrubbed by offenders’ falsifying hands.

for these adventitious forests flaunted by their
euro counting bounty hunters surge into Colombian
plantations. the flooded gum trees branded by their
smooth…
