MICROPOETRY

two halves of a whole

unmet

--

most times
all was just unenviable desiring
a need to tease the weakness
sew those fraying edges
with a transience of stitch
she sought to mend
but almost lost capacity
a darker side conspiring
with no return address
conviction stole her then
and took her straight toward
a different path descending
a litany of lies like paper birds
de-feathering her nest
what method out of madness
turns each stone in hopes of finding
a single solitary diamond freshly cut
with nothing to unpick?
she still might dream about a love
which could be all consuming
or maybe just for once in life accept
her solitary single rank because
unlike desire decay and finally denouement
she’ll never get divorced
