Did you know Swedes are the most tattooed in the world? It is no wonder the Swedish startup Inkbay is now revolutionising the industry by creating the first ever digital market place for buying tattoos.

One of the founders, Fredrik Glimskär, covered in tattoos, came up with the idea after years of being asked tips by friends and acquaintances about where to get a good tattoos. Fredrik, has been fascinated by tattoos and the whole culture around it for years and quickly realised there should be a service for people who want to get inked.

Inkbay gathers in one place the best tattoo artists in Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö and makes it very simple for customers to find, book and pay for their tattoo. Anyone can go through the different drawings and patterns in the artists online portfolios. The studios and artists featured are “hand picked” to ensure a high level of quality.

The right skills on TheHub
Inkbay is growing fast, but a big challenge has been to find skilled developers to take the company to the next level. After trying the traditional recruiting channels without success, they finally found the perfect match on Danske Bank’s startup platform TheHub.se.

– “Via TheHub we can support the companies through out their whole growth process. We notice that many startups are struggling to find the right sets of skills and that is why we created a job platform section on The Hub. We are constantly improving and coming up with new interesting and relevant options and services to assist startups on they journey” says Berit Behring, Danske Bank’s CEO.

Fredrik Glimskär, Inkbay’s CEO, says the next major step is within reach thanks to finding the right people for the key positions in the company.

– “We have just hired 2 developers. One from Greece and one from the US. I am so glad to work with The Hub. We have spent money on recruitment before but it is with The Hub that we found who we needed. The fact that it is a free service is of course a great plus”.

The company is now looking forward. A new service coming up on Inkbay is allowing the buyer to place a request online for a specific pattern that can be answered by the studios that will then propose a draft. The company is also launching in London and Fredrik is interested in expanding in other cities. It’s all about the data. If it shows that the customers are in Copenhagen, that is where they will open next.

– “All credits to Danske Bank for starting TheHub. The platform is built by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs. What I like, and I know other people also demand, is to know who the interlocutors are. It should be personal, and it the case with TheHub, “concludes Fredrik Glimskär.

This is a translation from Nextconomy’s article about Inkbay.

The Hub is an open digital platform tailored to the needs of growth startups. We aim to give visibility to all Swedish startups and via the platform assist startups with the recruitment of talents, fundraising, best practices, useful tools, and also by listing all the relevant tech events out there.
