Mayor Bramson announced during his recent State of the City address that City Hall will be relocated to 45 Harrison Street, where Macquesten plans to build a 27-story, mixed-use tower.

“ 55 years after it left Main Street, leaving a gap that has never been filled, City Hall is moving back downtown.” — Mayor Noam Bramson

While the move isn’t expected to be complete by 2021, the City School District of New Rochelle will be acquiring the current City Hall property and facility located at 515 North Ave, where they could then re-purpose the building and potentially use it as an additional school. The new City Hall will be located at the base of the new project.

Mayor Bramson said during his speech that moving into the new development would “save tax dollars” considering the cost to maintain and occupy the current facility. Bramson also thinks of it as making a “bold statement of confidence” in our downtown as we continue to grow and build.

Last June, the City Council chose Macquesten to develop on the site where NRFD Station 1 is currently located. With the proposal, a new fire station will be built at 65 River Street to make way for the new tower that will include 238 residential units, 6,700 sq. ft. of retail space, and 50,000 sq. ft. of office space. The project is expected to be fully approved of before the end of the year.
