Gear up, New Rochelle, the city’s privately funded bike share program has finally launched. While the program was officially announced in 2016, Mayor Bramson mentioned during 2018 State of the City address that it is officially up and running. As of now, it’s just a “soft opening”, so only 50 bikes are available, but a full launch is scheduled for April, including 100 bikes.

Memberships are already available, along with a pay-as-you-go system. Regular pricing on the annual pass is $95. The “Early Bird” annual pass will cost you $70, and if you’re a student you can purchase an annual pass at a greater discount of $65. If you don’t think you’d take advantage of year-round unlimited rides, a weekly pass is available for $12.95. All membership passes include unlimited 30-minute rides. As mentioned before, there’s also the pay-as-you-go system, which charges you $2 for every 30-minute ride. For all tiers, you’ll be charged an extra $2 for every additional 30 minutes.

You can pick up and return the bikes at any of the locations listed below;

  • Wykagyl
  • Iona College
  • City Hall
  • Montefiore Hospital
  • West End (where Huguenot and Main meet)
  • East End (near Stephenson Bvld.)
  • Marina (near Hudson Park)
  • Anderson Plaza
  • New Roc
  • North & Huguenot (across from the Post Office)
  • New Rochelle Train Station

You’ll need the Bike New Rochelle app in order to locate, lock, and pick up bikes, so be sure to download it if you’re interested. It’s available on iOS and Android devices.
