Literary theory is important for the humanities.

This month, we asked writers to think back on college or grad school and reconsider a classic work of literary theory.

Some of these texts are notoriously difficult to comprehend, but we translate them into ordinary language and show you why they are still relevant today.

So far in the issue…Rimi Nandy grapples with Derrida’s notion of différance, and Naruhiko Mikado provides an updated reading of Michel Foucault’s The Order of Things for 2020.
