Seniors Mary Henneberry and Austin Richard won all star cast at last week’s Region One Act Competition for their roles as Juror 4 and Juror 3 respectively when Howard High School’s theatre department brought the famous play to compete at Mary Person’s High School in Forsyth.

“The play consisted of 12 jurors arguing about the guilt or innocence of a 19-year-old boy,” said senior Ashley Pemberton who played Juror 2. “Eleven of the jurors believed him to be guilty, but one thought he was innocent. Throughout the play, the lone juror tries to convince the others that the boy is innocent.”

The competition took place at the Monroe Fine Arts Center last Thursday. Team members were proud of Henneberry’s and Richard’s accomplishments despite not placing in the top four places.

The actors performed “12 Angry Jurors” at Howard High in the auditorium October 4–6 prior to competing in Forsyth. It was very successful, drawing a large crowd of students.

Cast members are very proud of their performance, and they are looking forward to the rest of the year, including the Spring musical “Once Upon a Mattress.”

“My last one-act has truly been an unforgettable one,” said Pemberton. “The Howard High Theatre department will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
