The Best Buddies program is a new organization that has recently started at Howard. It focuses on education and social opportunities for students with special needs with teacher Anne Murphy as the sponsor.

The program’s first meeting was October 26. In the meeting, interested students discussed the initiatives of how to spread awareness of learners with disabilities. They also decided on activities that the club can do with the students including programs, assembly meetings, and developing techniques that will allow students to socialize with other students.

The end goal of the Best Buddies Program is to give more opportunities to engage in a social environment beyond the classroom. Every student deserves and needs a way to talk with other students around them no matter the disability they may have.

The Best Buddies program plans to meet at least once every month. If you are interested in this program, updates will be in the news and announcements. The next meeting will be in January.
