Value of knowing yourself

As we keep hounding you guys about the future of education and technology it’s time to address an issue that should change overtime and reflect better as the future waits. It has been a request for decades for schools to focus more on finding value in themselves before graduating highschool. This is due to many students finding out that college is not the only option to go if you want to be successful nor does college guarantee you your ideal job. Some students feel as if college just sets you up to be in debt and students may never apply for the degree earned in the future. For example “But now that her courses for the one-year accelerated program were moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic, Kincheloe, a first-generation college graduate from a low-income background, is questioning what more than $50,000 in student loan debt will mean for her future.”(Anderson). This proves a point of how because kids are not taught before college other possible ways that are more suitable for them and their family they are forced to question whether or not being in debt is worth their future. This creates a chain of those who take the college right when they don’t have to take up their time and money and leave them with nothing.

As we fast forward till the future we can determine it is possible to succeed despite not going to college . For example teachers and schools can provide tips for students who do not wanna take the college route such as “ Understanding your career value , Getting on the job training , Finding Internships and Volunteer opportunities ,Taking online courses, Finding a mentor, and Using Network” (Bibby). These different tips if taught to students can steer them in a different direction and cause them to think differently. It will force them to understand what exactly they want to do and what is acceptable for themselves. Not only will it steer them in the direction that they want but it will also allow them to seek a route that is more affordable for them to obtain and engage so that they won’t feel as their not wasting their time or not getting to where they want to be at. There are a list of trade schools or other alternatives where these students can get the same education as everyone else but for their interest and price .
