Our audience is keen about reading stories of entrepreneurs creating a difference in the world. Your profile speaks volumes of the outstanding work you have done. Enlighten us about what you do.

I am a Canadian Entrepreneur living in Miami and Founder & CEO of Focus Global Talent Solutions. Focus GTS is a Niche IT staffing company with a focus on 3 core verticals, Digital Marketing Technology, Data Science/Artificial Intelligence, and Business Intelligence/Analytics. Having worked for the last 9 years in the IT recruitment space last year I started Focus GTS and we’ve had a tremendous 1st 18 months.

Tell us how you come up with this brand and what was the sole idea behind creating it.

I spent 6 years becoming the foremost expert in the recruitment of Adobe Experience Manager professionals and realized that niche areas of technology are the way to really carve out a presence within a recruitment market so that’s why we picked the verticals we cover and the idea behind the creation of the Focus GTS brand. Our motto is “align yourself with an expert” because we believe that to truly hire the best talent working with a generalist will not get you the results you need.

Your story is something many readers would surely relate to. Now, go in detail and tell us about how your brand works.

GTS works with companies around the country and using their cutting edge recruitment process they’ll typically cut in half the time it would typically take to fill a position. The Corporate Executive Board recently did a study and found that it costs a company $500 per day for an open position. With their cutting edge process Focus is saving companies thousands of dollars.

There’s a perception out there that companies can fill roles themselves, that hiring recruiters is a waste of money and this may be true for very general roles, however, as soon as you get into difficult to fill niche roles this thought process is no longer logical. You need to align yourself with an expert that can deliver.

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on brand creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

Building a business is not easy. Originally I was planning on partnering with someone but when I met the guy in person he turned out to be a psychopath. I had already quit my job at this point so I didn’t have a lot of opportunities. My wife and I incorporated the business, bought a domain and a couple of phones and began the process of building our company. There’s been many ups and downs in the first 18 months but we’ve been blessed with some great clients and invested a lot of money to get around the right people that could guide us as we grew the company.

We are sure many of your clients must have got their own incredible stories about working with you. Would you like to share a few of them with us?

Focus GTS has been a crucial partner in helping us find the best A.I. and Data Science talent for our digital initiatives. We have aggressive growth plans within our team and getting the right people on board in a timely manner is extremely important to us. Focus GTS has been an integral factor in our people strategy.

What does it take to run a successful business like yours? How do you manage your finances through the services you offer?

Luckily I have a finance degree so this has been one of our strong suits. One of the most difficult things in any business is managing cash flow but I’m proud to say we’ve been 100% self-funded and haven’t taken one penny from investors. We’ve strategically used small amounts of debt in the short term.

Tell us your future vision about the brand. What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

We’re building a 9-figure company. Year one we did 2 Million which is outstanding for a startup. Tony Robbin’s says that 90% of companies never reach a million dollars in sales so that’s a great starting point. This year we’ve already surpassed that and are looking at 500% growth. We believe in the next 5 years we will build a company valued at over 100 Million with multiple offices around the country. The best part is you can follow the journey on my personal Instagram @davefoxceo or our Company Instagram @focusglobaltalent

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

1st I would caution everyone, entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone and it’s not the only way to build wealth. As a matter of fact, there are more people that build wealth as employees than starting their own company but if you’re like me and have that burning desire to truly see if you can make it and know for a fact you would live in regret for not trying to go for it!
