Storyboards and Prototyping

This week was exciting in that we are finally entering the stage of making. Team YOMO is really happy that we are able to realize our ideas. It was a struggle to incorporate all of our ideas into storyboards. Especially since we are all remote. I was very happy to see how we all worked well together to overcome these obstacles.

Anu was this week group’s leader. She showed us how she has been teaching her students sketching. This was a great turning point in how we were all able to express what we were thinking.

To begin this process we all thought of what-if scenarios to get our heads into the right headspace of our main stakeholders’ perimenopausal woman. From our research, we really tried to pinpoint the pain point areas we identified. from this, we were able to start sketching and come up with ideas for potential solutions.

Based on our storyboards we realized most of them had several similar themes. They also took on similar forms. We synthesized our analysis into different categories into which our storyboards and solutions fell under. What came up were solutions that came up within the home and work. It also seemed like we were targeting different groups including intergenerational, intragender, and a mix of both. We decided at this point it would be good to align and vote on what areas we wanted to focus on. Our ballots show just how aligned we are. Most of our votes lined up into the majority of us wanting to focus on the home and focusing on a mix intergenerational and intragender.

We specified what we meant by home by focusing on families. We believe that if we are able to educate family members including partners, siblings, and etc that we can help perimenopausal women feel more heard and understood. By focusing on the family we hope to have these women feel more comfortable about speaking about their symptoms and bring more awareness to the family. This helps our intervention focus on both intergenerational and intragender focus.

We were able to group our many sketches into our themes and revolve our ideas around five storyboards which we were all able to concentrate on and make a thorough and clear high-level story so we can present to our stakeholders for feedback.

Above is a group session of us reviewing our concept storyboards so that we were consistent and confident with presenting each storyboard. I was really happy that our group has great cohesion and were able to quickly push ideas forward into testing.

We are excited to hear our feedback from the concepts and to finally narrow down our direction so that we can effectively prototype out. We are very excited to test and prototype.
