Liverpool Festival Theatre To Premiere New Show About George Harrison : The Indiependent

A new production about the life of the late Beatle George Harrison will make its debut at Liverpool Theatre Festival.

Despite often being referred to as the “quiet Beatle,” this music show, entitled Something About George — The George Harrison Story, will reveal the turbulent yet prosperous life of Harrison on his road to success and beyond.

Harrison’s solo material including ‘My Sweet Lord’, ‘Something’, and ‘Handle With Care’ will feature alongside some of the everlasting classics from The Beatles and his work with one of rock ’n’ roll’s supergroups, The Traveling Wilburys.

Jon Fellowes will both write and co-produce the show alongside Liverpool-born singer songwriter Gary Edward Jones and theatre producer Bill Elms, who is also artistic director of Liverpool Theatre Festival.

The show will star Liverpool-born West End performer and musician Daniel Taylor, who will tell the story of George Harrison. Keyboard player Ben Gladwin and Jon Fellowes on lead guitar will join him on stage.

Taylor shared his excitement for the show: “I’m thrilled being able to tell George Harrison’s story, especially his journey after those heady days in the Fab Four. For me, The Beatles are the greatest band that ever lived. After all his achievements, George is still one of the most underrated songwriters that has ever lived.”

Something About George — The George Harrison Story will be performed at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool City Centre to close the Liverpool Theatre Festival on Sunday 12 September. Tickets are on sale now.
