Theatre News: Almeida Theatre to reopen from December

The Almeida in north London will reopen for a new series of shows from December.

Rebecca Frecknall ( Summer and Smoke), Chis Bush ( Standing at the Sky’s Edge) and the show’s company are producing Nine Lessons and Carols.

The show will run from the the 2nd December 2020 to the 9th January 2021, with a socially-distanced capacity of 120.

Meanwhile, Lolita Chakrabarti, will also write a new play called Hymn starring Adrian Lester ( Red Velvet) and Danny Sapani ( Les Blancs), which will run from the 29th January to the 27th February 2021.

As well as this, the Almeida Youth Company will perform The Maladies directed by Diyan Zora, which is set across 500 years and will run from the 18th to the 22nd of January.

The Almeida Artistic Director Rupert Goold stated that “having gratefully received a grant from the government’s Culture Recovery Fund, we are very pleased to be offering a season of work playing through Christmas and into 2021.”
