Track Review: Ready When You Are // Thrillhouse

Thrillhouse are a perfect band for the summer. Both their previous singles, ‘One of these Days’ and ‘Lesser’ are superb because they are very upbeat and feature shimmering synths. The band are influenced by the likes of Talking Heads, and you can hear the heavy 80s atmosphere in their music. Their new single, ‘Ready When You Are’ is another gem to add to their catalogue because it’s an insanely catchy disco banger.

‘Ready When You Are’ has another killer bassline with layers and layers of synths. They work well with the vocals because all the instruments have space to breathe. Despite being upbeat musically, the lyrics tell a different story. It could be about the struggle of dealing with this dystopian period: “It’s the end of an era, you saw it so clear / You sat up, looked up, and said / I’m ready when you are.” The guitar that drops in at the end adds to the funky beat, and it will get a lot of people dancing.

Thrillhouse are great because their music is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. ‘Ready When You Are’ is another strong track to get you through this lockdown because it’s inspiring and uplifting.
