Trailer Released For ‘Supernova’ Starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci

The trailer for the romantic comedy-drama Supernova, starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci, has been released.

Thetwo-minute teaser introduces us to long term partners Sam (Colin Firth) and Tusker (Stanley Tucci), who are on holiday with one another, possibly for the last time. Supernova explores Tusker’s early onset dementia, and the troubles this brings him and those close to him.

Set against the beautiful Lake District, the film is set to explore the desire to be remembered as the best version of ourselves, rather than the identity damaged by aging. Whereas Tusker appears defeatist at times, Sam is desperate to see his life through until the end.

Written and directed by Harry Macqueen, Supernova is his second feature after Hinterland, which was released in the UK in 2015. Like Supernova, Hinterland told the story of a road-trip and its power to reveal information about characters. Macqueen has also starred in films including Me and Orson Welles and the TV soap opera EastEnders.

Colin Firth has received an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, two BAFTAs and three Screen Actor Guild Award. He is well known in particular for Pride and Prejudice, A Single Man and The King’s Speech. Tucci is a triple Emmy winner and has starred in multiple films including The Children Act , The Hunger Games and The Terminal.

The film is produced by Train Goligher and Emily Morgan. Dick Pope, whose previous credits include Peterloo and Mr Turner , is the film’s cinematographer.

Supernova will screen at the BFI London Film Festival before being released in the United Kingdom on 27 November 2020.
