Headland, who was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series with Netflix’s Russian Doll, is in position to oversee the as-yet-unnamed, female-led series. She will serve as the writer, executive producer and showrunner for the series, yet another offering in the growing Star Wars TV world, including Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian.

Favreau’s series, which follows a gunslinger and Baby Yoda, is in post-production for season two, while two other series have been announced: one focusing on Cassian Andor’s life before the events of Rogue One, and one following Obi-Wan Kenobi between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

Star Wars released the information earlier today, at the same time announcing Marvel and Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi would direct and co-write a new feature film for the franchise, set for theatrical release.

A release date has not been set for either Waikiti’s film or Headland’s series.
