NEW YORK CITY — While on set shooting the Netflix produced series The Get Down, about a down and out 1970’s New York City giving birth to hip-hop, punk and disco; Australian auteur Baz Luhrmann stated to his first AD that he is “not cool” with people calling him ‘The Baz’. “I’d like to say ‘No worries, mate’ — I really would, but I can’t because I’m very worried. I’m worried that if I don’t nip this in the bud, the nickname will catch on which will in turn lead to lots of worries.” The director from down-under went on to explain “Kangaroos have three vaginas. Two of them for sperm and the other for giving birth.” as a PA tossed him an ice cold can of Fosters. He later added “Didgeridoo dingo, shrimp on the barbie.” His concerns were only compounded when later that day while asking for utensils to eat his steak dinner with he was given a fork and a spoon. We are still awaiting official comment on his response to the waitstaff for this gaffe.

Baz Luhrmann is known for directing the film Australia starring fellow aussies Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. He is from Australia.
