PHILADELPHIA— A local band is coming to grips with the fact that despite their seemingly prescient formation, they are said to not be in the running for house band of comedian Norm MacDonald’s new talk show Norm MacDonald Has A Show, which will be available on Netflix. “It blows my mind. I mean, what are the odds? I can’t help but feel like they’re making a huge mistake.” said Simon Tate, bassist and co-founder of Turd Furguson. Tate and lead singer Rusty Heck started the band in 2015 as a play on the popular “normcore” fashion, which the band members wear while performing. “I mean it started as a joke, but it really took off so we just went with it.” said Heck. The band’s original catalog includes “Hey, You Got Any Gum?” and the ballad “You Guessed It, Frank Stallone”. It should be noted the keyboardist, Stan Hooper was also in Zahn Juan, a Steve Zahn themed salsa band.
