Hi, I’m Tara and I’m a nut butter addict. Well, sorta! These days, how could you not be when there’s such a wide variety of amazing tasting options? You can find anything from crunchy cinnamon almond butter to creamy cashew butter at your local supermarket, so the struggle of picking just one kind of nut butter is too real. Whether it be for a mid-day snack or part of a meal, I’ve laid out a few of my go-to combinations for fueling that nut butter addiction.

  • Banana and Butter Sammies: Cue your mid-day snack or pre-workout fuel with this snack. Simply take a banana and slice it lengthwise, choose your favorite nut butter (almond, cashew, peanut, etc.), and spread it on both halves. Top with honey, agave, coconut flakes, or even my personal fav, hemp seeds, for added protein. Put both halves together and bite right in.
  • Nut Butter Stuffed Dates: If you are a fan of the sweet and ooey-gooey taste of dates, then you are sure to love them paired with nut butter. Take 3 or 4 pitted dates, slice them lengthwise, and stuff with one spoonful of nut butter. The rich and creamy nut butter balances out the sweetness of the dates and makes a great snack when you’re feeling fatigued and need an energy boost.
  • Drizzled Sweet Potato Wedges: This unsuspecting pairing is super simple to make. Just boil, steam, or roast one wedged sweet potato. Once the sweet potato is soft to the touch, remove it and drizzle your favorite nut butter over. Enjoy it warm and thank me later.
  • Almond Butter and Jelly Toast: Hello to your new breakfast, lunch, snack, or anytime dish. Choose your favorite bread, toast it, and spread on the nut butter and jelly. I love to garnish my toast with a fresh fruit like banana or crushed raspberries for an added touch. If you like your crunch, top your toast with chia seeds or cacao nibs.
  • Creamy Breakfast Oatmeal: If you’re already eating oats for breakfast and you’ve not added nut butter yet, then you’re missing out. This small addition makes a big difference by giving your bowl of oats a bold flavor and mouthwatering consistency. My favorite take on this is a warm bowl of oats, mixed berries, and a heaping spoonful of peanut butter!

I can go on for days on this topic. If you follow my Instagram or have downloaded my app, you’d know my love for nut butter goes way back! Remember, you aren’t limited to peanut or almond butter. Get creative and try out pumpkin seed butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter next time. One tastes better than the next and trying out new combinations will surely surprise you!
