1 year ago we started The Innovation Station. Our ambition? To build the biggest and best collection of videos on innovation and to build an international community of innovators. This is where we are now! Facts & Figures.
TIS = international
In the past year we’ve had visitors from 180 countries. Of course from the Netherlands, where our HQ is based, but you are a true international lot, see the Top 10:

TIS = community
TIS is community powered media. We are building that community step by step. But with succes. At the moment we have 3290 followers on Twitter and 4545 likes on Facebook. You add videos (but please add more!), you like, you react, you retweet. Our most popular videos on Twitter:
- Health & Innovation: 769 retweets and 1066 likes.
- Refugees & Innovation: 656 retweets and 1177 likes.
- Energy & Innovation: 704 retweets and 771 likes.
TIS wants to be where our audience is, so we have our own site but publish and communicate in a newsletter, on Facebook and Twitter as well. When we add all the platforms we count a reach of more than 50 million (!) with the most popular videos doing around 500.000 views! Not bad, not bad!
TIS = young
We love visitors of all ages, but are happy that 46% of you are younger than 34! And it’s not strange that a site with a lot of attention to technology attracts a lot of men, but we like it that 41,4 % of our audience is female!
TIS = curation
In the past year, we (so that’s you and us!), collected 954 inspiring and informative videos on 25 themes from Health to Robots to Education to Refugees to Social Innovation. A great collection of videos that show the latest trends, the newest inventions and the best insights. TIS curates and bundles the best of the web.
TIS = original content
We think curation is important, but on top of that original content is important. We’ve done interviews, we’ve done live shows, we covered events. And we are glad to have the reporters of VPRO’s Metropolis on board making original content from countries like India, Indonesia, Russia, Zimbabwe, Venezuela and more.
And we’re also proud of the interactive specials we made on for example Refugees & Innovation and Health & Innovation. We think we have a valuable format there to use existing content to make original content. Have a look!
TIS = AWARDS
We are happy with you the users, but are proud as well of the credits we get from professionals in the field. During the first year of our existence we got nominated for prestigious prices like The Dutch Interactive Awards, the Webby Awards and the European Design Awards. Nice one! Thanx a lot Festina, the company that build TIS!
