TIS Weekly (#15): Innovations That Make You Smile
[September 13th, 2015]
Our theme this month is Get Yourself Connected, videos on the Internet of Things, there’s lots of good ones waiting for you and of course we hope you are going to add lots more! But that’s not what I want to talk about in this newsletter. I want to tell you that we have videos that inform, videos that inspire and videos that raise questions, but this week I realized that we have a lot of videos on innovation that make you smile as well. And that’s important. Here’s a selection of 3 films that cheer you up!
A youngster that makes you smile
A 15 year old inventor
Sit down and relax. This is a beauty. It’s the story of a 15 year old boy from Sierra Leone that calls himself an inventor and builds stuff with the rubbish he finds lying around. For example, he has build his own FM community radio station. MIT asked him over for his first visit abroad, because MIT agrees we need more kids like Kelvin!
A robot that rides a bicycle
An amazing video
Of course we all know that there’s a lot happening in the world of robotics. And we know that our world is going to change because of that. There’s a lot to be impressed about. But this video made us smile this week. A robot on a bicycle, how is it possible? And it looks so much like a human balancing on two wheels! What’s the point? We’ll find one ;-)
A man that thinks big
Daan Roosegaarde sees only opportunities
Dutchman Daan Roosegaarde makes us smile because it’s so good to see with which enthusiasm he is looking for solutions for big problems. But not only that, he always does it with an eye for beauty, he combines innovation with art. We need more people like him! You can not leave uninspired after listening to him. In this video he talks about building the world’s largest air-purifier to make the cities clean.
OK that’s it for this week, friends of innovation. Keep on submitting, keep on voting, keep on innovating. Questions? Remarks? Ideas? hello@tis.tv is the address! From TIS with love, Erwin Blom.
