An Apology
There was no insite last month.
I’m still acclimating myself to the way Medium titles and images work now. I think I preferred it before, but no matter. Things change.
But now I’ve digressed before I’ve even begun. This story purports to be an apology for the lack of insite we provided last month.
Sorry.
I’m glad we’ve gotten that out of the way. I feel better now; don’t you?
Why did we fail to deliver? Quite a few reasons actually. For one thing, almost everyone on the insite crew (myself included) is chronically bad with chronology. That is, we never know what day of the month it is. So it gets pretty easy for us to just wake up one morning to discover: Ah! It’s September! And no one has written their insite articles yet…
Also, some people (like me!) were sick.
Add to that how busy everyone claims to be nowadays, plus a pinch of writer’s block, and you have a recipe for…well…nothing. Which is why there was nothing last month.
But we hope to make it up this month. I hope you find this a highly acceptable issue.
Here’s an idea, though. What if we had so many loyal readers that each of our writers felt obliged to work twice as hard to please them?
“Wait,” you say. “Are you asking me to help find more readers for this brand new project that doesn’t even publish when scheduled because it doesn’t even publish when scheduled?”
Um…yes.
Honestly, I want people to read an enjoy insite no matter what. I’m just using our own failure to produce a September issue as a pretext to bring it up. But I think I speak for all writers when I say that nothing motivates content as well as an expectant audience.
So let’s see: I’ve apologized for the missing issue and I’ve asked a favor from you readers—namely, that you help make everyone else readers too. I think it’s only fair to add one more thing:
What do you think of insite so far?
Are we interesting? Informative? Insightful? Or maybe we’re as boring as a piece of dry toast. What have you liked, and what have you hated? Leave some notes on this piece on what you think we could improve, and what you think we’re doing well. Then we can incorporate your thoughts and be better worthy of your continued perusal.
Enjoy October’s issue of insite!
