To start this post I wanna talk about giving power to the rest of society to take over our minds and our lives. First off, how you choose to live your life is your responsibility and your choice, not theirs. And you know another fact, they may continue to tell you how to live your life but that doesn’t mean you should follow them.

The right thing to do here is listen to your heart. Listen to the voice inside you and go with that! Be the best version of yourself, be happy, do things that make you happy and don’t stop! Nothing is impossible and with time, it’ll feel worthwhile enough!

Attention, appreciation, affection and acceptance!

Bring your attention to something important that you have done recently or at any time (regardless of how long ago it was, it still counts and it is good enough) or even to someone that is important, or someone who is standing beside you or near you; and just give them your attention. Listen to them mindfully and ask questions to clarify that you are understanding what they are talking about correctly. This is one step of ending the stigma around mental illness. Below is the definition of the term: mindfulness/mindful.

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you’re mindful, you carefully observe your thoughts and feelings without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to your current experience, rather than dwelling on the past or anticipating the future.

The total 5 steps to ending the stigma around mental illness are as follows:

  1. Language matters
  2. Listen and ask
  3. Be kind
  4. Educate yourself
  5. Talk about it
