Poem For a Departed Father
grief and hope
We hardly had the time
to know each other more,
We hardly had the chance
to just sit down and talk.
But all these years I knew
that I could count on you.
Just a nod of your head
Or a smile in your eyes will do.
Now that you’re gone,
and that time we had has passed,
All I have are your memories
that will live on and last.
I will look back at the days
when I would sit upon your lap
and you would tell me stories
before I could take a nap.
I will look at the future
when I could see you again.
Then I will hear more of your stories,
and never part from you again.
