The Builders Program Launch Spotlight is a regular series where we highlight a recent or upcoming launch of projects we’re excited about. Today we have an interview with Jin Kwon, one of the co-founders of Saga.
Introduction
Hello Cosmos community! My name is Jin Kwon, and I am one of the co-founders of Saga, an ambitious project that aims to redefine the way developers engage with blockchain technology to create scalable, interoperable, and efficient Web3 applications.
My professional journey has been a diverse one, with a background in software engineering, marketing, investment banking and a passion for decentralized systems. Before Saga, I was an executive at Tendermint, overseeing the business growth and corporate development. I worked alongside many veteran Interchain Foundation stakeholders to help launch the Cosmos Hub and subsequent development. I have always been driven by the desire to build tools that empower creators and users alike, and that’s where Saga comes in.
What is Saga?
Saga is a complete Web3 platform designed to provide developers with an integrated stack of high-performance tools and services to build and scale their applications. Our goal is to simplify the development process while offering the flexibility and power that modern decentralized applications (dApps) demand.
We believe that the future of the internet is decentralized, but current blockchain technology is often hampered by scalability issues, high costs, and complexity. Saga addresses these challenges by providing a simplified, yet robust, ecosystem that encourages innovation and supports exponential growth of the decentralized web.
How Does It Work?
Saga utilizes a unique protocol that allows developers to effortlessly create parallelized and interoperable blockchains. These dedicated chains can scale elastically with the needs of their applications, ensuring performance is never compromised. Our business model is centered on providing these high-end services, with a focus on network security, developer support, and seamless user experiences.
What Did Your Road To Launch Look Like?
The inception of Saga was born out of a series of discussions and realizations about the limitations of existing blockchain architectures. We saw a need for a more integrated approach to support the burgeoning world of Web3. The road to launch was fraught with challenges, including technological hurdles, ensuring a seamless developer experience, and aligning with regulatory requirements.
One significant obstacle was designing a system that could be both simple for developers to use, yet flexible enough to handle a wide range of applications. We overcame this by fostering a culture of innovation within our team and working closely with early adopters to refine our platform. I am particularly proud of our team’s resilience and our community’s enthusiasm, which have been instrumental in getting us to where we are today.
What Can We Expect At Launch?
We are excited to announce that Saga will be launching in 2024. At launch, developers will have access to our core suite of tools, including the ability to create dedicated chains, a robust set of APIs, and comprehensive documentation to streamline the development process. Additionally, users can expect a user-friendly Web App and a set of governance features to participate actively in the Saga ecosystem.
We encourage the community to engage with our testnet leading up to the launch to provide feedback and help us perfect the platform. We also plan to initiate a series of airdrops and community-focused events to reward early adopters and contributors.
What are you looking forward to?
Looking ahead, we are thrilled about the potential of Saga to empower developers and ignite a new wave of innovation in the Web3 space. We are also eager to explore synergies with other Cosmos projects, leveraging the Interchain Builders Program to foster collaborations that push the boundaries of what’s possible in decentralized technology. Our vision for Saga is not just to be a standalone platform, but a driving force in a vibrant, interconnected ecosystem that brings the true potential of blockchain to life.
