In 2015 Inez Natalia had imagined a world where young people discover who they truly are and realize their purposes, especially in their careers as significant part of human life. Puri Lestari took up the opportunity to facilitate the process, and together they agreed to write a book about purpose. That was the start of The Intersection.

The Intersection has grown into facilitation platform to enable people to explore, design, and live their purposeful career path. Fellow author Binky Bee joined in and has worked on this project, bringing her fresh perspective into the clan. The Intersection, as a writers collective, share a vision to inspire a generation to discover who they are and unearth the potentials and roles to fulfill.

This collaboration has produced works of fiction and non-fiction covering a wide range of subject such as work/life balance, humanity, social justice, and mental health awareness.

Fast forward to week 31, year 2017.

The Intersection Project will be participating in upcoming ASEAN Literary Festival 3–6 August 2017 in historic Kota Tua compound, Jakarta.

ASEAN Literary Festival has grown to be a prominent platform for literary scene in the region. We have seen how in the previous years ALF continue to highlight the key issues surrounding humanity and its stories. Unlike other contemporary literary festivals, ALF is looking through different glass. It provides critical perspective and in-depth discussions; opening horizons through exploration and living the less traveled path. These are also the core values that underline The Intersection.

At the event, The Intersection will introduce one non-fiction book and two novels, born and raised through collaboration within the collective. The books are “Turn Right: A Journey to Purposeful Careers”, “Urup: The Flame That Keeps Burning” and “Coming of Age”. These three books are all different but they all have a central theme. That theme, the thread that binds these different books together, is the journey one takes in discovering one’s purpose in life.

With “Turn Right: A Journey To Purposeful Careers”, Inez Natalia provides insight and practical wisdom to finding not only the right career for you but also a purposeful career that is not only meaningful but also contributes greatly to society. In “Urup: The Flame That Keeps Burning”, Puri Lestari takes us on an adventure as we follow the lives of three people whose lives are forever changed when they discover who they are and what they’re meant to be. As an added spice to the already sweet mixture, through “Coming of Age”, Binky Bee Theodora Grace examines what growing up and discovering one’s purpose means in the face of mental illness and heartbreaking loss.

The books that make up “The Intersection” can be read separately, or together. They all have merit on their own, but together they form a unity. Together they tell a story of hope, change, discovery and ultimately, a life that is worth living.

Along with exciting programs at ASEAN Literary Festival 2017, The Intersection would like to share our journey that started with an imagined world. We had it all wrong, it was not about what it would be, it was about what it could become and of course, the journey. It has surpassed beyond our imagination of what it would be at the beginning. The initial idea has grown beyond Inez Natalia, Puri Lestari, and Binky Bee… and perhaps, you could be part of this journey too.

Looking forward to meet you at ASEAN Literary Festival 2017.
