The Interstitial strives to curate intelligent, insightful stories about the human condition. This can be any thought-provoking piece (fiction, non-fiction, or hybrid) that examines what it means to be human. We are seeking intermediate to advanced writers who bring a distinct voice and artistic style. We must be moved. We must be affected. We must say, this is different, and only this person could have written this story.

We are interested in unique experiences and stories, but we are more interested in the unique perspectives that accompany those experiences. We love the exceptional, the unusual, and the unconventional.

We are seeking writers willing to go where others won’t. We want you to touch the event horizon of discomfort and take readers on an intelligent journey through the vastness of humanity. The Interstitial is a place for you to grow and stretch your limits as a writer and as a person.

Not Looking For:

Instructive writing. Academic writing. Historical writing. Research writing. Political writing. Explanatory writing of any kind. Your story will show the reader through the creative telling of events. That will be explanation enough. No author notes to conclude…
