According to current archaeological and scientific evidence, the extinct species of Homo floresiensis inhabited the Indonesian island of Flores from approximately 190,000 to 50,000 years ago.

The crimson dawn flooded the rainforest as our group of Saphu (Homo Sapiens) ventured into that unfamiliar and potentially hostile environment. I, Daku the tracker, led the expedition, scanning the vegetation with all my senses alert, gripping my carved wooden spear firmly. Suddenly, rustling in the bushes caught my attention. With a quick gesture, I stopped my companions and cautiously approached the shrubbery. A small, monkey-like creature emerged, with long curved limbs and a stocky body covered in sparse fur. Its large dark eyes shone with acute intelligence. It had to be one of the legendary Florhu, the “people of the forest” according to the ancient legends of our shamans. We remained still, studying each other for endless moments, trying to interpret the other’s intentions.
